*Review given in exchange for copy from Netgalley*This one was really good! Steampunk weapons, a lady Marshal, supernatural rituals, and a cast full of gay. The settings- dank lamplit alleys, warm libraries full of books and experiments, stormy streets, felt as much alive as the characters. The conversations moved the plot and the action... A fun little novella I wrote after finishing Fool's Gold. If you're looking for some lighthearted beach reading with thrills, chills, and a touch of the supernatural, look no further! My publisher lists it as lesbian, which is accurate, as the POV character is lesbian, however, there is a second romantic subplot for m/m lovers to enjoy... This is a super fun little novella and it's a cracking good read. I loved it. It's entertaining, exciting, full of delightful queer characters, and is wonderfully atmospheric. It's a short historical fantasy mystery with romantic subplots and it's lively and vivid and just plain fun. I'm looking forward to reading more by Jess Faraday....
